PROFILE:

Late Honorable Chief Shem Ezekiel Asuk Esq, J.P. was a legal luminary and Elder statesman in Rivers State. He happened to be the first lawyer of Andoni/Obolo origin to be called to both the English and Nigerian Bar. Thus, making him the first lawyer of Andoni origin.

He founded Lasbury Asuk Legal Practice originally under the name of S. E. ASUK & Co. (also referred to as Obolo Chambers) which was later renamed.

The Late Honourable Chief Shem Ezekiel Asuk was a role model and mentor to many fresh and aspiring legal practitioners in Rivers State and beyond. In fact Lasbury Asuk Legal Practice (formerly known as S. E. ASUK & Co.) through the mentorship of Honourable Chief Shem Ezekiel Asuk-Aburoma has been a veritable training ground for upcoming lawyers across the country, some of whom have achieved excellence in their chosen careers with the legal profession. Notable products of his mentorship via the firm include:

The Late Honourable Chief Shem Ezekiel Asuk-Aburoma was involved in general legal practice spanning from Criminal and Civil Litigation, to Conveyancing, to Commercial and Corporate Law Practice. He was once a company secretary/legal representative to the Management Company of Hotel Presidential, C & C Construction Company Nig Ltd, and ARETA Farms Estate Nig Ltd.

​

The venerable Chief Shem Ezekiel Asuk of the blessed memory was the Treasurer of the Nigerian Bar Association, Port Harcourt Branch Rivers State (1978 – 1979), a leader of the Bar and a Bencher of the Supreme Court Nigeria from 1987 till his death. At the time of his death, he was the most senior member of the Port Harcourt Branch of the Nigerian Bar Association, second only in seniority to the Doyen – of – Bar – Chief Nwobidike Nwanodi, who also translated to eternity.
